About This Election

ELECTIONS COMMISSIONER REPORT FILED BEFORE THE A.S.I. BOARD OF DIRECTORS ON THURSDAY, MAY 17, 2012 AT 3:30 PM IN THE U-SU BOARD ROOM 303

Cynthia Jandres, the PR and Elections Commissioner stated:

"I would like to announce the results of the 2012-2013 A.S.I. General Elections. Voting for Elections took place over three days: Monday, May 14 through Wednesday, May 16. 2,152 students voted electronically via the Golden Eagle Territory (GET) system. The election was closed at 7:00pm on Wednesday night. General Election Ballot result reporting took place at 7:05pm. All results are valid."

Based on the above the A.S.I. Board of Directors approved the results.

THE FOLLOWING A.S.I. GENERAL ELECTION RESULTS WERE ANNOUNCED AT 4:06 PM IN THE U-SU PLAZA BY CYNTHIA JANDRES, THE A.S.I. PR AND ELECTIONS COMMISSIONER AND WILLIAM TSAI THE A.S.I. CHIEF JUSTICE:

Election Results

A.S.I. College of Arts and Letters Representatives:

There was one candidate for this position. 165 votes were cast for the Arts & Letters Representative position.

  • Joseph Anderson received 151 votes. 14 people voted No Confidence.

Joseph Anderson is the new Representative for the College of Arts & Letters.

A.S.I. College of Business and Economics Representatives:

There were three candidates for this position. 224 votes were cast for the Business and Economics Representative positions.

  • Jeffrey Chien received 42 votes
  • Alix Alcazar received 92 votes
  • Diana Robles Hernandez received 131 votes.

Diana Robles Hernandez and Alix Alcazar are the new Representatives for the College of Business and Economics.

A.S.I. Charter College of Education Representatives:

  • No candidates for this position.

A.S.I. College of Engineering, Computer Science, and Technology Representatives:

There were three candidates for this position. 319 votes were cast for the Engineering, Computer Science, and Technology Representative positions.

  • Ernesto Covarrubias-Flores received 165 votes.
  • Frank Montoya received 116 votes.
  • Ronald Peralbo received 107 votes.

Ernesto Covarrubias-Flores and Frank Montoya are the new Representatives for the College of Engineering, Computer Science, and Technology.

A.S.I. College of Health and Human Services Representatives:

There were two candidates for this position. 345 votes were cast for the College of Health and Human Services Representative positions.

  • Carmen Avalos received 262 votes. 13 people voted no confidence.
  • Ellen Davidian received 123 votes. 21 people voted no confidence.

Carmen Avalos and Ellen Davidian are the new Representatives for the College of Health and Human Services.

A.S.I. College of Natural and Social Sciences Representatives:

There was one candidate for this position. 364 votes were cast for the Natural and Social Sciences Representative position.

  • Carolyn Kan received 340 votes. 24 people voted No Confidence

A.S.I. Academic Senator-Undergraduate:

There were four candidates for this position. 1,365 votes were cast for Academic Senator-Undergraduate.

  • Luis Antezana received 408 votes

There were three candidates for this position. 1, 370 votes were cast for Campus Affairs Representative-at-Large.

A.S.I. Legislative Affairs Representative at Large:

A.S.I. Secretary/Treasurer:

There were two candidates for this position. 1, 469 votes were cast for the Secretary/Treasurer position.

  • Olatunde Kosoko received 508 votes.
  • Stephanie Vargas received 961 votes.

Stephanie Vargas is the new Secretary/Treasurer.

A.S.I. Vice President for Finance:

There were two candidates for this position. 1, 424 votes were cast for the Vice President for Finance position.

  • Haik Panosian received 233 votes.
  • Matthew Lin received 1,191 votes.

Matthew Lin is the new Vice President for Finance.

A.S.I. Vice President for Academic Governance:

There were three candidates for this position. 1, 569 votes were cast for Vice President for Academic Governance.

  • Michael Pomirchy received 436 votes
  • Simeon Carson received 513 votes
  • Hector Jacinto received 620 votes

Hector Jacinto is the new Vice President for Academic Governance.

A.S.I. Vice President for Administration:

There were three candidates for the Vice President for Administration position. 1,653 votes were cast for the Vice President for Administration position.

  • Stephanie Martinez-Arevalo received 799 votes
  • Jelani Hendrix received 620 votes

A.S.I. President:

There were five candidates running for A.S.I. President. 1, 927 votes were cast for the President position.

  • Hector Escobar received 1,110 votes
