III. Discussion Items

a. Campus Sustainability Committee Meeting: The committee will discuss the CSC meeting on October 12, 2020
b. Social Media: The committee will discuss how EPC can increase involvement within the committee and increase content on social media.
c. Fall Semester Events: The committee will discuss events for the current semester. - November 15, 2020 - National Recycling Day (Sunday)
d. Spring Semester Events: The committee will discuss events for next semester. - April 22, 2021 - Earth Day (Thursday) - April 30, 2021 - Arbor Day (Friday)
e. Tree Campus USA Program: The committee will discuss the requirements for the application for Cal State LA to be certified as a Tree Higher Campus
f. Group Discussion: The Committee will address any items put forth by the members.

IV. Action Items

a. Vice-Chair: The Chair will appoint a Vice-Chair.

About Committee

The Environmental Policy Committee formulates and encourages the adoption of policies that will make ASI's internal practices more environmentally sustainable. In addition, the committee also seeks to:

  • Collaborate with Cal State LA administrators to encourage the adoption of policies that will make Cal State LA a more environmentally sustainable campus.
  • Educate the on-campus community on the topic of environmental sustainability and environmental justice.
  • Formulate and encourage the adoption of policies that will make the California State University system more environmentally sustainable, working primarily through the California State Student Association (CSSA).

The Environmental Policy Committee is composed of:

  • Civic Engagement Officer (Chair)
  • Two members of the ASI Board of Directors
  • Two members at-large from the student body
  • ASI Executive Director or designee (non-voting)
