Biography
I’m Mark Raspopov, a senior dual majoring in Computer Science and Psychology and double minoring in Biomedical Engineering and Mathematics. I’m interested in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, as well as their applications to benefit society. My interests lie not only in understanding the theory behind these technologies but also in exploring their applications to solve real-world problems. I am currently working in a research lab on an AI-based wildfire prediction project in collaboration with NASA and the City of Los Angeles. In addition, I serve as a Student Director on the University-Student Union Board of Directors and am actively involved in several campus clubs, including serving as President of the AI/ML Club and Vice President and Controls Team Lead of RoboSubLA.
This year, my goals as an Academic Senator are to continue working with my committees to address student issues, advocate for student concerns, and ensure that student voices are heard in academic decision-making. I also want to strengthen communication between students and faculty so that students feel more comfortable sharing their ideas, concerns, and feedback.
