Yahir Flores

Hello Golden Eagles, my name is Yahir Flores, and I am in my fourth year at Cal State LA, double majoring in Political Science and Chicanx/Latinx Studies. I joined ASI as a  committee member for the Legislative Affairs committee and gradually moved up in positions, serving as the State Lobby Corps Officer, then Diversity & Inclusion Officer, and ending as the Vice President for Administration. This year, I have the honor to serve as ASI President as the President/CEO of ASI I lead the student government that represents, advocates, and serves over 25,000 students. I provide strategic direction on student-related issues, policies, and services that affect Cal State LA students and the broader community. I also maintain a close working relationship with the Executive Director of ASI and the University President for guidance and support.

In addition, I serve as a Member of the Board of Directors of the Cal State Student Association (CSSA), the voice of over 500,000 students in the California State University system. I participate in the Systemwide Affairs Committee, where I analyze and advocate for policies that enhance student success, equity, and access. I also leverage my lobbying skills to influence state and federal legislators on behalf of the students. I am passionate about advancing social justice, diversity, and inclusion through my roles and responsibilities, and I hope to hear from you all about your experience in higher education and Cal State LA to assist me in my advocacy efforts.
